Good education and other oportunities at UFSC
The Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) is a great university, and in my undergraduate course it has very qualified professors and courses that teach all aspects of a good education. Likewise, the university has in its legislation several aspects of rigor related to the selection of students to enter in the university and the approval in the disciplines. It is a university that offers different study groups and extension projects to complete basic curricular training and to offer professional experience. I strongly recommend it!
UFSC Overview
I have great professors and teachers that are well known in the aquaculture society, I really like the relationship that we students end up having with the professors and theachers because it enriches our knowledge even more. The structure of the university is very good but could definitely be a litle improved. The labs are very good and well equiped but with some equipament outdated. My overall opinion is that the university has everything to be awesome, but some things defenitely need improvement.
UFSC - An university full of experiences
My aerospace engineering studies at UFSC Joinville were a solid foundation for my academic and professional development. The program offered a strong theoretical base in core disciplines such as aerodynamics, propulsion, flight mechanics, and structural analysis. I especially valued the emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving, which prepared me well for international experiences later in my journey. I actively participated in hands-on projects and student research, including volunteer work on propeller noise estimation and membership in a rocketry team. These opportunities helped me apply theoretical concepts in practical settings and strengthened my creativity and teamwork skills. I also worked as a Physics I monitor, which deepened my understanding of fundamental subjects and improved my communication abilities. One highlight was my engagement with interdisciplinary and sustainability-oriented initiatives. As a member of the campus sustainability committee, I contributed to projects that combined aerospace innovation with environmental responsibility—an area I’m still passionate about. While the academic experience was enriching, I identified opportunities for improvement. More structured industry partnerships, earlier internship programs, and advanced training in software tools (such as CATIA, CFD, and FEM) would better prepare students for the demands of the aerospace sector. Additionally, expanding international collaboration would benefit students aiming for global careers. Overall, UFSC Joinville offered me a well-rounded and challenging academic environment. It encouraged initiative, teamwork, and a commitment to continuous learning. These qualities motivated me to pursue further experiences abroad—such as my exchange semester in Germany and internship at Fraunhofer IPT—which built upon the strong academic foundation UFSC provided and helped shape my international career goals.
