History
IAE was founded in 1956 by then State Director of Higher Education Gaston Berger and Professor Robert Goetz. The 1950s were the start of the boom years – known in French as the Trente glorieuses – but in France management was not yet a university discipline. Meanwhile, American business schools attached to universities were churning out top managers to fire their economy.
Education
Through a combination of case studies, lectures, group work and on-the-job experience, IAE Programs prepare students to deal with the multitude of issues that firms must address in today’s international environment. Executive education is a key focus with programs designed to suit all professional situations, and the school’s truly international perspective gives our students a global edge. The permanent IAE Faculty is complemented by a pool of over 350 visiting lecturers and business practitioners, who bring their valuable real-world business experience to their teaching and participation in our 4 research groups.
Research
Research is a strategic priority for the Sorbonne Business School.
The Sorbonne Business School strongly supports the development of research to contribute to the evolution of society and practices and, thus, anticipate tomorrow's world and management. Our applied research activity enables us to support companies and organizations in addressing specific issues, and to feed our programs with fresh thinking in order to train professionals capable of meeting tomorrow's challenges.
With its faculty, its laboratory and its chairs, the Sorbonne Business School stands out from other management schools for its societal commitment linked to its highly dynamic research activity.
Career
Over the last few decades, economic globalization has changed the career prospects of IAE students, which have gone from basically national to entirely global. Consequently, in the early 1990s IAE de Paris began developing its international activities with faculty exchanges which, as in many academic institutions, often lead to contacts with foreign partners that generate collaboration in both research and teaching.
