The Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB) is a tertiary educational institution, having an old tradition at national and international level. Our educational offer, aligned with the Bologna system, includes Bachelor (4 years/240 ECTS), Master (2 years/120 ECTS), and Ph.D.(3 years/180 ECTS) study programmes in Civil Engineering and related fields.

Master's Programmes

About

The University comprises at present 7 faculties as well as a Department of Foreign Languages and Communication.The study programmes in foreign languages are provided in English and French bythe Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages (FILS) at Bachelor’s and Master level. This faculty was founded in 1991, having more than 1000 graduates, including 39 in Double Diploma with École des Ponts ParisTech.

There is also a French section at the Faculty of Engineering Installations for Buildings (FII), offering a study programme at Bachelor’s level. Both units are targeted by the ERASMUS+ students and teachers, but also by other international students. UTCBowning an Erasmus University Charter since 2003.

The Department of Foreign Languages and Communication provides a Bachelor study programme (3 years/180 ECTS) and a Master study programme (2 years/120 ECTS).

The Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest directs its range of educational programmes towards the European and World space of education and research through an in progress internationalization process, which represents one of the major objectives of the university.

The operating lines of his research centers are also oriented along the European and World priorities and perspectives, from Seismic Design of civil engineering structures to Renewable Energies and Intelligent buildings, from Mechatronics and Electrical engineering to Sanitary engineering, Hydrotecnics and Environmental protection.

Considering their experience and the substantial research potential, during the last four years, the departments and the faculties of the University have focused on major fields of scientific, technological and public interest.The most significant research projects are given below:

  • Calculation and behaviour of reinforced concrete, masonry, metallic and wooden structures in case of seismic activity and stress.
  • Seismic zoning of the Romanian territory
  • Setting up the norms and standards in compliance with the current European legislation (civil engineering, building services, roads and railways, environmental protection, EUROCODES)
  • Seismic response of the existing buildings and safety strategies
  • Research concerning the modelling of the static and dynamic linear and non-linear response of standing structures in the field of transport infrastructure (roads, bridges, railways, tunnels)
  • Rebuilding, expansion and modernization of the water supply systems, sewage and sewage treatment
  • Static and seismic response of hydraulic structures, as well as their risk and safety analyses
  • Modern calculation programmes for modelling the soil-structure interaction
  • Exploitation and protection of the underground water resources and the dispersion of the polluting agents in the porous and fluid media
  • Improving the water supply networks
  • Technologies of investigating and reevaluating industrial waste
  • Pollutants chemical analyses and physical and chemical methods of de-pollution
  • Energetic efficiency of buildings, safety, stability and reliability of building services (thermal, refrigeration, sanitary, electric, illumination and air conditioning equipment)
  • Appearance improvement of the installation equipment
  • Environmental balances and impact studies
  • Research concerning the hydro-mechanical driving systems, the automation and robotisation of the technological processes in the field of civil engineering
  • Research on vibrating drive machines and the machine dynamics
  • Design and production of geodetic support networks. The modernization of the national geodetic network and its inclusion in the European networks
  • Using the remote sensing data for obtaining information about the space
  • Research focused on sitting up the cadastre computerized system for locality management by the local administrators, and others.

Accommodation

The university campus is provided with a restaurant where the students could have lunch at decent prices.

Upon request master students have ensured places in students dormitory:

  • Romanian and EU students must make a request during the registration for admission
  • Non-EU students must send their request after receiving the acceptance for studying in Romania, through email (secretariat@utcb.ro)

Student Life

We all know that student life is not just about classrooms and faculty lounges. Therefore, mainly, but not exclusively through student associations, the students from the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest enjoy many extracurricular activities. Being one of the most beautiful periods in a person's life, they try to make the time spent in college a most enjoyable experience.

By organizing sport activities, thematic visits, meetings and debates on various topics or humanitarian campaigns, students are involved in a team, the TUCEB Team. During the period spent in TUCEB, one could make true friends, could grow up and learn how to achieve great things.

Accreditation

The University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest is a technical university for training specialists with higher competence in the fields of civil engineering, building services engineering, mechanical engineering / construction machinery and equipment, environmental engineering, geodesic engineering, management and engineering and systems engineering.

In March 2001, the University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest signed a double diploma agreement with Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, this being the first agreement of this kind in the field of technical higher education in our country.

The reorganization of the national system of higher education in Civil Engineering, in accordance with the Bologna Process opens up new recognition prospects for the graduates of the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest (TUCEB) as well as better chances of integrating into the European occupational market. Today, thousands of graduates of the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest are working in the U.S., Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Israel, South Africa etc. The solid knowledge acquired in this university has enabled them to rapidly integrate and adapt to the conditions and working methods in other countries.
