About

History

Vistula University (VU) is a non-public higher education institution, operating according to the Polish legal framework, in particular, the Law on the Higher Education Act.  VU was founded in 1992, under the name of the University of Banking and Insurance in Warsaw, as a second non-public university in Poland. Its current status has been achieved through generic growth and dynamic mergers with other non-public higher education institutions (HEIs).

Education

 Vistula University prepares graduates for  careers in management, finance and accounting, international relations, economics, philology, journalism, graphic design,  architecture, and computer science. Its educational package  comprises under-graduate and post-graduate degree programmes, in both Polish and English with full-time, part-time, and online modes of delivery. Research

Our academics form the research community, who work closely with a wide range of industries, government, local communities, and charities. By the decision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Faculty of Business and International Relations of the Vistula University, obtained the prestigious scientific ‘category A’. Vistula University has also received the HR Excellence in Research award, granted by the European Commission. 

Career

We provide our students with regular employability events,  such as job fairs,  which allow direct contact between employers and students, guest speakers, as well as career workshops and training sessions,  and educational games, all aimed at competences assessment and development.

Vistula University has created the e-Career portal for students and employers. Students, creating a profile on the portal, have the opportunity to perform a test assessing the level of selected competences, creating a CV, and finding job offers. Offers are posted on the portal directly by employers, who have easier contact with students with specific competences. All users have access to the Development Database, supporting their Life Long Learning,  which contains articles, links to videos, and information about recommended training programmes.

Services

Student services

At  Vistula University, the Mentoring Programme was created to support and encourage new students to manage their own learning. Our goal is to help them maximise their potential, develop their skills, and improve their performance. The students are also supported by: 

  • The International Office -  the central information point for all persons interested in the Vistula Group of Universities, including prospective, current, and graduate students, along with  their families, recruitment agencies, other universities, and companies. We strive to enrich the academic and cultural experience of our international students, visitors, and employees.
  • The Dean’s office - an administrative-informative centre  for students of  Vistula University. 
  • Study abroad – Erasmus+ - managing the EU Erasmus+ Programme, which allows students to study and take paid internship positions abroad. Within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, we co-operate with more than 40 universities, within the European Union and outside. Students obtain monthly grants of up to 600 Euros during their studies and internships. 
  • Ombudsman – whose role is to: promote fairness, justice, high ethical standards, and  alternative dispute resolution methods in the academic world; and help in resolving conflicts at the University, reported by  students, academics, and administration staff.

Housing services

Vistula University offer  dormitory  10 minutes’ walk distance from  campus. Our International Office is more than happy to help  students  arrange  accommodation. 

Library services

Vistula University’s library is a friendly space where you will find:

  • over 800 journals, with over 60 in subscription; 
  • access to over 100, 000 books;
  • 11 commercial full-text databases; 
  • computer workstations, with free access to the Internet; 

ICT services

Vistula University offers the innovative Virtual Learning Environment  (VLE). Our new e-learning platform allows students to use multimedia study materials in a simple and intuitive way on all mobile devices. The platform creates a system of support, communication, and sharing knowledge, not only for students and lecturers, but also for administrative employees.On the  campus, all students have  free access to WI-FI. 

Medical services

If you have any medical issue, you can visit our University Doctor, who is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 09:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and on Saturdays from  10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Our students can  also be under the care of a psychologist.

Student Life

Campus life

Our campus is located 350 metres   from the Stokłosy Metro Station and  bus stop. The centre  is about 18 minutes by car, and about 24 minutes by public transport. Around the University, there are many shops and shopping centres,   as well as climatic pubs and restaurants, where you can relax with friends, after  classes.

The 29, 000 m2 campus contains air-conditioned rooms, lecture halls with the  capacity for hundreds of students, spacious classrooms,  a reading room, library, gym, sports centre, as well as 2 restaurants, serving dishes and snacks from all over the world. On warmer days, students can relax outdoors in the university’s spacious courtyard. 

On the ground floor, there is a cafeteria serving tasty, international,  healthy meals. The rich menu is full of dishes from many parts of the world, so students have the opportunity to savour  new flavours, and to experience regional dishes from different countries. On the second floor, there is a café, where students can enjoy delicious coffee, eat a tasty cake, and relax on comfortable couches. 

Sports facilities

Vistula University offers a spacious  sports hall with an area of over 600 m2, adapted for playing basketball, volleyball, indoor football, badminton, and aerobics (due to an excellent sound system). The university building features modern, professional equipment that will help students stay fit and shape their bodies.   Students also have the opportunity to use the tennis courts, located next to the campus.

Student clubs

Science clubs promote the development of various professional competences. Students organise conferences, training sessions, seminars, and lectures, whilst also  participating  in many scientific events.Social clubs develop interpersonal and communication skills. They organise events, such as  the Culture Fest and Global Fest that teach and encourage openness to other cultures. Students learn music and dances from different corners of the world, discover other customs, and taste unique cuisine. They embark on  a great journey because cultural diversity enriches and inspires.

Accreditation

Vistula University is accredited by the Polish Accreditation Committee (PKA) - the only statutory body in Poland, responsible for the assessment of quality of education, provided by higher education institutions.  Up till now, all programmes have been assessed positively. Our university has a full range of ACCA accreditation. Thanks to this, graduates of Finance and Accounting have the opportunity to get exemptions from all ACCA exams at the Fundamentals level. This allows them to start the process of receiving the ACCA vocational qualifications more quickly, and become a member of this international certification organisation for accounting and finance specialists.

Vistula University is a leading provider of tertiary education. It's a globalization of people who have come from all over the world to learn. The university is a secure and creative environment. The teachers and students are friendly, and most of all it feels like a home away from home.
