History
- Dalian University of Technology was established in April 1949, as the School of Engineering of Dalian University;
- In July 1950, the establishment of Dalian University was revoked, from which School of Engineering got independence as Dalian Institute of Technology;
- In April 1986, the graduate school was established;
Education
Dalian University of Technology offers 87 undergraduate programs, 71 of which are based on the main campus in Dalian and 16 of which on the Panjin campus. These programs cover a wide range of subjects including engineering, economics, management, language and literature, law, philosophy, arts, education and medicine. The University is home to 23 national level key majors, 42 pilot majors of National Comprehensive Reform, and 16 pilot majors under the Plan for Educating and Training Outstanding Engineers verified by the Ministry of Education.

The International office is an administrative division with responsibility for the foreign affairs of Dalian University of Technology. It’s responsible for the exchange and cooperation with international educational institutions, faculty dispatch, long term and short term international visitors, enrollment of international students.

The libraries of DUT has more than 3.047 million books, with more than 58000 Chinese and foreign electronic journals.

DUT is located in the beautiful coastal city of Dalian, in northeastern China's Liaoning Province. It covers three campuses (main campus, campus at development zone , Panjin campus). The total area of DUT is 4.262 million square meters, construction area is 1.622 million square meters.
Sports facilities
The sports area is 215000 square meters. Meanwhile DUT has a first-class campus network system.
