History
Macromedia University had its origins in the Macromedia Akademie, a specialist in media-related basic and advanced training with 15 years of experience (ten of those years in the area of university study) and more than 20,000 course graduates.
Education
The study programmes at Macromedia University cover the whole spectrum of media, design, business and management.
At Macromedia University, our practice-oriented bachelor’s programmes are taught entirely in English. Digitalisation and technology-driven innovation are built into the curriculum with hands-on experience. Together, we prepare you for top-level positions in an international work environment.
International ranking success
In 2020, Macromedia participated in the U-Multiranking along with 1800 universities globally and 104 from Germany and ranked in the top 15% of all business schools, top 25 for contact to the work environment and number 2 in Germany for entrepreneurial thinking.
Research
Research at Macromedia University plays a crucial role in fostering and qualifying the new generation of students.The main focus of research at the university lies in the area of social sciences, communication and digital media. As the largest German private university in the field of media and communications, Macromedia is well-positioned to bring together research expertise from the fields of media management, advertising, design, or film and television.
Career
The Career Service at the university is a competent point of contact promoting dialogues between students and companies in all disciplines. It also acts as service provider for companies helping them to recruit qualified talent. The main objective of the Career Service is to establish long-lasting cooperation between students and graduates, faculties and companies for the benefit of all concerned by facilitating open communication and networking opportunities.

Bachelor's, Design in English, 2022-2026
The university offers a decent overall experience with average academics, lack of design-focused facilities, and no student life. Most professors are knowledgeable, though teaching quality heavily varies between each professor. I wasn't able to get critiques that would improve my work during the studying process. All criticuques were available only after the end of semester. You can't discuss the feedback with professors, because they are not interested in proactively helping the students. The campus is fine and has the basic resources students need, but it doesn’t particularly stand out. Social opportunities and clubs don't exist, student council only occasionally orgnises parties. Overall, it’s a reasonable choice for late applicants looking for a solid education without expecting anything exceptional.
Very unorganised university
The university is very unorganised; it's very frustrating to communicate with the Staff and Professors because even if you complain, nothing happens to fix it. I cannot recommend it. Although it has both positive and negative aspects, considering its high cost, it's worth careful consideration before applying.
Administrative Staff bring down it's score
Whilst the professors & class sizes are great, the overall administration is awful & the monthly fee is not justified. There's little to do and very few activities offered. The overall atmosphere is fine & classes were fun. The professor mostly cared for the students, although, again, this doesn't justify the monthly fees.

Macromedia University has five campuses across Germany in major cities which are the hotspots for media, innovation and entrepreneurship: Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Hamburg and Stuttgart. Berlin and Munich are within the Top 6 and Top 9 of the “Best Student Cities 2017” worldwide according to the Top Universities rankings for 2017. Located at the hearts of the cities, all of our campuses boast top-notch infrastructures and facilities complemented by easy access and vibrant international atmosphere.
As a private university of applied sciences, we maintain close contacts with the industry in each location. As our teaching is standardized across all our locations, students have the chance to transfer and spend a semester or do an internship in another media city of their choice.
