  5. Promotion of academic and intercultural exchange between the media and communication industries of Germany and Egypt.

Programme Structure

Part time students may select to take lesser number of courses but will finish the program in a longer time.

The 1st semester provides students with theoretical knowledge and practical insights into journalism. In addition to that, students immerse in business and economic studies, with a focus on media economics. Furthermore, they develop academic research skills.

The 2nd semester focuses on business, strategic and political aspects of media organizations as economic agents. Program participants study the inter-relationship between media, politics and society, as well as media development topics. Interdisciplinary units include editorial, project management and leadership. Moreover, students gain practical knowledge in one of four available journalistic genres: TV, radio, print or online journalism.

General Requirements

According to German University in Cairo mission, the university seeks to attract candidates with strong potential for managerial development. Admission to the MBA in Media Management program is competitive and rests on the following criteria:

  • Bachelor degree with a minimum overall grade of “good”.

  • English language proficiency as measured by the German University in Cairo English language admission test or the TOEFL with a minimum score of 550.

  • Satisfactory performance in a personal interview.
