Overview
Why choose the European Economic Studies programme of the College of Europe?
- Wide range of courses taught by top academics.
- Inside views on how Europe works from senior policy officials and business persons.
- Workshops and seminars run by experienced practitioners.
- Practical skill development, ranging from debating techniques to empirical statistical methods.
- 80% of students find jobs in EU institutions, multinational companies or national governments.
ECO - General economics track
On successful completion of this track you will obtain the degree of Master of Science in European Economic Studies.
All courses combine economic analysis with empirical assessment and critical in-depth reviews of EU policies and, where relevant, of the European economy in general. The programme focuses on European economic policies, but several courses also examine extensively the implications for business strategy.
EEIB - Economics for business track
On successful completion of this track you will obtain the degree of Master of Science in European Economic Studies with the mention 'European Economic Integration and Business'.
- The specialisation combines high level economic analysis of European integration with an understanding of business and corporate strategy.
- Business Case Studies enable the student to learn how the EU affects companies, and how a company or a sector develops an EU-specific strategy vis-à-vis policymakers, competitors and clients.
- Career prospects in the business sector and in the public sector at national, international or European level.
- Bilingual programme: English and French.
ELEA - Competition policy track
The ELEA option adds value to the core curricula of both lawyers and economists through a deeper knowledge and understanding of the other discipline. The purpose is not to transform lawyers into economists or vice versa. The option enables the two groups of students to ‘interconnect’ more easily and will thus be directly useful for their later work in EU competition policy enforcement and practice as well as in various fields related to market regulation.
EPPA - Public policy analysis track
The aim of public policies is to provide effective solutions to specific problems and to raise the welfare of society at an affordable cost. However, as society becomes more complex, the collection of relevant evidence becomes more arduous, the definition of efficient policies becomes more difficult, and the involvement of stakeholders requires more intricate processes.
