The Chemistry programme taught at University of Siena provides the unique educational opportunity in an international student environment. 

The core and optional courses present in the program allow a range of learning and training opportunities that allow for a wide range of employment and research opportunities, born from close ties with local and international industrial partners.


This Master’s Degree prepares students with an advanced knowledge and skills in the most important areas of Chemistry (Physical, Inorganic, Organic and Biochemistry). 

These studies will prepare the student for a wide range of professional activities as well as continued doctoral studies. Lessons are complemented with specific lectures on subjects related to chemistry for life science or for sustainable development. 

The second year activity includes with 300 hours of internship in companies working in all fields of chemistry. The students will complete their studies by participating in a high level research project (6-8 months) within international research groups at the University of Siena or other public or private institutions.

General Requirements

  • Candidates are required to hold a three-year degree (B.A.)
  • Students wishing to enrol in the course must also possess an adequate preparation in basic chemistry subjects.
  • The admission of international students will be decided by the EC or by its delegate through an analysis of the curriculum, possibly integrated by an interview, including via computer.
  • The Chemistry Committee evaluates each applicant’s Transcript and Curriculum. Bachelor degree holders (minimum 3 years full time BSc) in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry or Chemical Engineering will be evaluated for appropriate scientific background.
  • Successfully evaluated applicants participate in a mandatory selective assessment online test in Chemistry.
