The Master program in Language and Mind - Linguistics and Cognitive Studies at the University of Siena is a highly interdisciplinary program aimed at providing a comprehensive understanding of language as a human cognitive capacity, combining theoretical perspectives in Linguistics and philosophy with their different and many applications in domains such as Computational Linguistics.


All courses  of Language and Mind - Linguistics and Cognitive Studies at the University of Siena are taught in English, in a lively international environment at the Department of Social, Political and Cognitive Science, a leader in multidisciplinary research.The Master also offers two main specializations through its two curricula “Linguistics and Cognition” and “Philosophy and Cognition”, with flexible options to combine teachings from both. In addition, a Double Degree program is active in collaboration with the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne as well as several Erasmus agreements with excellent departments and laboratories across Europe.


The Placement Office - Career Service establishes and manages relations with businesses locally, nationally and internationally to help introduce students and new graduates to the world of work. It sets up work experience placements, offers career advice and orientation.

An internship can be considered an investment for companies and students. If this interchange is an exchange between different countries, it is enhanced by additional human, social and cultural factors that increase its value.

General requirements

  • The admission to the Master of a graduate who is in possession of a degree awarded by a foreign University or an equivalent foreign institute is evaluated by the Didactic Committee through a case by case assessment, considering the documentation received through online procedures, on the basis of the relevance and consistency of the qualification obtained abroad (and of the entire training course) with the training objectives of the Master. 
  • The Didactic Committee may request a further clarification on the motivations of the student to request admission and on his / her training path through a motivation letter. An interview may also be required, in English, to be held in video-conference.

Tuition Fee

The amount of tuition fees is based on both the student’s family income, as declared in the ISEE certification.The ISEE values for the calculation of contribution range from a minimum of € 16.000,00 up to a maximum of € 90.000,00 in order to properly consider the real economic conditions of the family. For ISEE less than € 16.000,00 no contribution is expected.
