Overview
The Statistics programme from National Cheng Kung University was formerly known as the Department of Accounting and Statistics, was founded in 1955. In 1958, it divided into two groups: Accounting and Statistics, both commencing enrollment. By August 1974, the Department of Accounting and the Department of Statistics were officially established, with the latter offering evening courses. In 1991, the department changed its enrollment to Group Two and established a Master's program in Statistics. A doctoral program in Statistics was established in 1998. In the same year, the evening program was restructured into the Extension Education Division and stopped enrollment in the 1999. In 2019, the Institute of Data Science was established.
