Overview

The Plant Breeding for Sustainable Production programme at the University of Bordeaux prepares students to contribute to the development of resilient plants and sustainable agroecosystems.

Students explore plant diversity and learn how to characterise, use and maintain genetic resources. The programme examines the genetics of yield and adaptive traits, along with strategies for developing plant species that can respond to global change and agroecological production requirements while maintaining productivity.

Students develop practical knowledge of phenotyping and genotyping and learn to use omics, bioinformatics and biostatistics to analyse biological and agricultural data. The pathway addresses plant breeding for different objectives and uses, including yield, plant health, environmental adaptation, food, energy, biomolecules and materials.
