The Master of Science in Sustainable Architecture and Landscape Design at Politecnico di Milano is designed for graduates who wish to explore how architecture and landscape can engage with contemporary cultural, political, media, environmental and justice issues.

In the title SALd, "sustainable" is a unifying concept, indicating that both architecture and landscape design should adhere to sustainability principles. Both elements are designed to work together in an environmentally responsible way, promoting efficiency, resource conservation, and long-term environmental health.

The SALd programme offers a design research track for the next generation of architects who wish to develop their original research agenda and design practice. It places architecture and landscape in an expanded context, inviting students to critically examine the fields - questioning their definitions, sites, scales, concerns, methods, media and underlying values. Moving beyond the traditional focus on form, the programme explores the planetary processes affecting land and life, emphasising specific sites and situated perspectives.

This broadened approach encourages the integration of knowledge and methodologies from related disciplines while centred on design research to create more liveable futures.
