By linking physical science-based environmental understanding with the social and economic drivers of global sustainability, this course equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to address the most pressing environmental issues of our time, with a specific focus on low- and middle-income countries.

The Global Development (Environment and Climate Change) programme offered at The University of Manchester examines the environmental dimensions of global development, preparing students to critically assess and tackle challenges at the nexus of environment, society, and economy. The focus on how businesses and the private sector can play a role in development enables you to gain employment in multinational organisations, private sector firms or to start your own organisations addressing some of the biggest global challenges.

• NGOs and third-sector organisations

The teaching and research aims are suited to work in non-government and civil society organisations where you take on a range of roles from policy advisors, project managers, HR and communications staff.
