Overview

Chinese Philosophy, Religion, and Culture from Renmin University of China, all courses for this program(except Chineselanguage) are taught in English. It offers overseas students who are not proficientin Mandarin a valuable opportunity to study Chinese philosophy, religion, andculture whilst living in China. It also provides opportunities to study Chineseandexperience intercultural communication with professors and classmates of diversecultural backgrounds and experiences.

Key facts

This program covers a wide range of topics on Chinese philosophy(mainlyConfucianism and Daoism), religion (mainly Buddhism, sociology of religion, andfolk religions), and culture (both ancient and contemporary). After fulfillingallcourse requirements, the students will conduct an independent studywithasupervisor to write a master thesis. Upon completion, students will earn a Master’sDegree of Philosophy, recognized by the Ministry of Education of the People’sRepublic of China, which further helps with the pursuit of a Ph.D. or workinarelated field. In addition to academic studies, this program also conducts social activities forstudents to learn more about China. For example, the program providesopportunities to visit famous cultural cities, such as Qufu, Xi’an, as well as famous historical sites, such as the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, andLamaTemple.
