Plant Biology and Biodiversity Management from Addis Ababa University focal areas have been carefully selected to align with the department's current expertise, as well as the laboratory and field facilities available.
Key facts
The MSc program comprises a total of 24 modules, including 9 general study modules. While 16 of these modules concentrate on various aspects of plant biology and biodiversity. These 16 modules provide specialization courses in four tracks, Plant Ecology, Plant Systematics and Conservation, Plant Physiology and Ethnobotany. Under each tacks, students are expected to complete four modules totaling about 20 ECTS.
Additionally, the program requires students to complete an MSc Thesis, which carries 60 ECTS, bringing the total of 120 ECTS.

- Admission requirement: All MSc applicants must satisfy the admission criteria set by Addis Ababa University, which includes passing the Graduate Admission Test (GAT) and successfully completing the department-level entrance examinations.
- The Department welcomes applicants who hold BSc degree in fields such as Biology, Plant sciences, Biotechnology, Forestry, Natural Resources Management, or other disciplines related to biology or plant biology. To be eligible for admission, applicants must have cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher at the time of their first degree graduation
