Overview
Business and Property Law from Addis Ababa University, learners will be engaged in in-depth studies in the fields of business and property law to enhance their capacities to contribute to the design and implementation of the ongoing policies and reform measures of the country, including the implementation of a free market economic system, decentralization of governance, and building the capacities of newly established institutions.

The courses to be covered include: Research Methods in Law and Social Science; Theories, Principles and Practices of Market Regulation, Competition and Consumer Protection; Advanced Issues in Company Law; Advanced Issues in Property Law; Law of Natural Resources; Land Policy and Law; Advanced Intellectual Property Law; E-Commerce Law; Laws of Banking, Microfinance and Insurance Markets; Laws of Capital and Securities Markets; International Economic Law; International Commercial Law; Commercial Dispute Resolution; Law of Taxation of Business and Property; Business and Human Rights; an elective course; and LL.M Thesis. The elective course will be chosen from the following: Advanced Issues in Investment Law; Construction and Construction Contracts Law; Transport and Transport Contracts Law; Advanced Issues in Environmental Law; Advanced Issues in Land Use and Lease Law; Housing and Real Estate Law; Law of Urban Property and Land Registration; or Law of Urban Property and Land Dispute Resolution. Admission to the program is limited to applicants who have first degree in law (LLB) and will be based on Graduate Admission Test (GAT) of the Addis Ababa University, and Law School Admission Test (LSAT)

General requirements
- Proof of Bachelor’s study with a minimum cGPA of 2.50 and a minimum cGPA of 2.75 in a relevant major on a 4:00 scale is a prerequisite for applicants seeking admission to MA/MSc/MPhil/LLM programs.
- Applicants should be able to take the Graduate Admission Test (GAT) of the AAU and get a passing mark. Alternatively, standardized tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, ACT, SAT, or LSAT and with the corresponding passing marks are acceptable.
- Submit a letter of intent for joining the Master’s or the PhD program.
Applicants will submit two (2) letters of recommendation from former university instructors or professors.
- Produce, as may be required, certificate of work experience related to the desired field of study.
