Global Surgery from Stellenbosch University is a completely thesis-based master’s programme. The initial research proposal is approved by a departmental research committee and the Health Research Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Specific admission requirementsOne of the following:

a professional bachelor’s degree at NQF level 8;
a bachelor honours degree in an appropriate health or health-related field;
an MBChB degree or an equivalent qualification;
a postgraduate qualification at NQF level 8 or NQF level 9 in public or global health, i.e. PGDip (Rural Medicine), with relevant surgical experience
an MPhil degree in health systems or an equivalent qualification approved for such purpose by Senate; or
you must have attained in some other manner a standard of competence in your particular field of study deemed adequate for such purpose by Senate.
