Overview
Applied Ethics - AI Ethics from Stellenbosch University, students who are accepted into this programme normally have a BA Honours degree in Philosophy or any B degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Ethics (thus at least 4 years of training).
Key facts
Students who have completed a degree of four or more years and who do not have a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Ethics may be allowed into the programme if they can offer proof of philosophy and/or ethics training acceptable to the Department. Students do not have to reside on campus, but are required to attend two intensive contact sessions at the beginning of each semester. Thereafter a thesis is required that counts 50% of the final mark.

General requirements
One of the following qualifications at NQF level 8:
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Ethics or a related field;
- An Honours degree in Philosophy or a related field;
- A qualification approved by Senate as equivalent;
- An MBChB degree, or another health sciences qualification, also gives access to the MPhil programme (specialisation in Biomedical Ethics), provided that such a qualification incorporates,
- in the judgement of the Department of Philosophy, adequate ethics or ethics-related modules.
- An average final mark of at least 60%.
