Overview
Mineral Materials - Advanced Clay Science from University of Poitiers with a focus on professional development, a significant portion of the program is dedicated to practical activities (a 2-day/week research project during Semester 1, a 3-4 month funded internship during Semester 2, a minimum 2-week practicum during Semester 3, and a 5-6 month funded internship during Semester 4).
Key facts
These immersion periods take place in laboratories (with access to various analytical tools) and within the framework of a work-study contract (available in the second year of the Master's program). This program is integrated into the University Research School of the University of Poitiers and therefore benefits from financial support: a " welcome box " (€500-€1200), and funding for the research project, practicum, and international mobility for all French students not enrolled in a work-study program and receiving a European Research Fund (ERF) grant (between 4 and 6 grants per year). Exposure to other disciplines is encouraged in order to strengthen transdisciplinary skills highly sought after in the professional world.
In addition to a solid understanding of the relevant disciplines, one of the program's objectives is the acquisition of a scientific and critical approach. An integrative approach based on multidisciplinary skills and knowledge—including natural sciences, physicochemical analysis, and modeling—is developed alongside familiarization with instrumental advancements in the field. This multidisciplinary approach, essential in many areas of activity (contaminated sites and soils, materials, mineral resources, etc.), is a key strength of the program.
This master's degree is based on a rich training program, led by a national team of teachers/professionals from the fields of Geosciences, Physics and Chemistry.
Thanks to its multidisciplinary approach, this master's program's scope extends to numerous fields of activity, particularly those related to sustainable development (contaminated sites and soils, geomaterials, mineral resources, eco-materials, etc.). It also allows students to adapt their training throughout the program to the demands of the professional world.
