Overview
Energy sector is a multi-billion dollar, steadily growing market. The industry lacks specialists capable of developing and implementing solutions based on mathematical modeling, artificial intelligence, data analysis, machine learning, and algorithms. The Skoltech Digital Energy program trains such experts: it combines a strong foundation in power engineering and in-depth training in mathematical and IT disciplines, plus an 8-week internship in the industry and an in-house research project based on unique laboratories.
Tracks
Digital Energy Systems
This track prepares researchers and engineers who are capable of developing new approaches to solving modern problems in the design and operation of electrical grids, district heating systems and other complex engineering networks.
Graduates learn how computing and information technologies, optimization, machine learning and data-driven methods can be exploited to solve applied problems in the energy sector.
Energy Transition & ESG
ET & ESG track is for new generation of qualified engineers and future industry leaders who would be able to facilitate energy policy and develop new technology to ensure decarbonisation of industry and energy transition towards low-carbon economy and sustainable development.
Our students
- gain full vision into the energy sector and its digital transformation including its structure, systems, equipment, potential challenges, issues, and solutions
- acquire knowledge and skills for conducting research in the area of day-to-day control and planning of electricity, gas, heat, bulk power supply and distribution systems
- gain experience in developing new and improving existing algorithms, mathematical and computational methods, and implementing them into practice
- learn power electronic circuits and applications for stationary and mobile applications and gain experience in unique power electronics and real-time simulation laboratories which makes the difference in the research/labor market
- learn fundamental concepts and challenges in electromobility
- learn to formulate and model real-world problems using the language of modern theoretical engineering, solve them using the techniques from applied statistics, physics and mathematics
