This master's course is designed for those who already hold an undergraduate degree. For this version of the Child Nursing course, you will complete a dissertation on a topic of your choosing.

Registered Nurses are skilled healthcare professionals. They work in a wide range of healthcare settings. As a registered child nurse, you will work with other members of the multi/interprofessional team to help and support patients and carers. Often, this can be through challenging situations.Our MSc Child Nursing course will prepare you to work in partnership with patients and carers. You will learn to communicate effectively with children and young people, many of whom will have varied and complex communication and care needs. Throughout the course, you will be supported by the clinical and academic team to develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care. You will be given the opportunity to work cross different health care settings and health board. You will work with children and young people experiencing a wide range of conditions affecting physical and mental wellbeing.

When you study Child Nursing with us, your time will be split between academic study on campus and learning on clinical placements. This means for 50% of your time you will be learning on campus. The other 50% of your time will be on placements in a wide range of healthcare settings.

Clinical placements will help you develop the hands-on skills needed to work in healthcare. Placements will be located across NHS Tayside, NHS Fife, NHS Forth Valley and NHS Highland. This will give you the opportunity to experience a wide range of different geographical and organisational placements.
