Overview
Diagnostic Genomics at Queensland University of Technology offers a short, focused program of study in the core areas of diagnostic genetics, genetic technologies, disease pathogenesis and human genetics. Similarly, it is an ideal avenue for genetic scientists who are already qualified but are keen to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and applications.
You will be taught by leading researchers from the Genomics Research Centre, a research facility that focuses on the identification of genes involved in common human disorders and the translation of this research into new diagnostics and therapeutics.
Career:
This course equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge to confidently explain the genetic testing process to patients, select optimal genetic tests and explain results. This level of genetic expertise is beneficial as this is being increasingly looked for by employers in the field. Clinicians will also develop the necessary knowledge to initiate a collaboration with a genetics research group..
Genetic scientists completing this graduate certificate will be in a strong position to apply for appropriate promotion and recognition within their laboratory or competitively apply for positions in laboratories offering alternate testing methodologies.
