Overview
Graduates of the Civil Engineering Structures programme from University of Zilina acquire deep knowledge in the field of analysis of load-bearing structures, enabling them to design, maintain and reconstruct safe, useable, durable and aesthetic structures. The study programme is focused on the acquisition of theoretical and practical knowledge and on the development of the graduate´s ability of his/her creative application when performing the profession.
After graduating, the graduate of the second degree study has knowledge of principles and methods of analysis of load-bearing structures of engineering and transport structures, the principles of their design, diagnostics and evaluation. When solving tasks in individual areas, he/she is able to use acquired experience with application software. He/she gains the skills to work with cutting-edge technology and software resources. In addition to such knowledge and abilities he/she has knowledge related to the economics of buildings, their preparation and management as well as the impact of buildings on the environment.
Career opportunities
By completing the study programme and acquiring the master ‘s (engineering) degree, the graduate will obtain a qualification for the performance of a regulated profession. After completing appropriate practice and examinations in front of the Examining Board of the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers (SCCE), the graduate may obtain the authorization to perform the profession of „chartered civil engineer“.
The content and structure of the study programme correspond to the structure and scope of subjects required by SCCE to perform the profession of chartered civil engineer in category I3 –engineer for statics of structures, namely for buildings, civil engineering structures and geotechnics)
