Overview
Through this Journalism and Digital Communication course from the University of Limerick you'll gain essential multimedia storytelling skills and hands-on newsroom experience through a live news day and publishing with the Limerick Voice Choose between News or Sports pathways to tailor your learning.
The Sports Pathway, the first of its kind in Ireland, was developed with leading sports media professionals. The News Pathway focuses on digital storytelling skills and offers excellent networking opportunities. Both provide insights from industry experts.
Ideal for those aiming to build a career in journalism, sports media or communications, this programme also offers an early exit option with a Graduate Diploma after the taught modules, or a full MA upon completion of the summer semester.
During this programme, you will:
- Get cutting-edge training in multimedia journalism, allowing you to tell stories across broadcast, print and digital platforms.
- Understand the societal role of journalism and the broader institutional, organisational and political economic challenges facing the media.
- Experience what it feels like working in a fast-paced digital newsroom by developing multimedia content for innovative TV, radio, social media and newspaper production projects.
- Build a real-world portfolio of work and develop a network of Irish media contacts through regular workshops and talks on campus.
