Overview

This Literature and Civilization Master's program from University of Algiers – Algiersfrom University of Algiers – Algiers offers historical, literary, and cultural subjects and themes that allow students to explore diverse fields such as philosophy of thought, political, economic, social, and cultural studies. Therefore, this program allows students to potentially pursue doctoral studies in one of the aforementioned fields.

Training objectives

The M1 also allows students to deepen their prerequisite knowledge in the literature and civilization subjects offered in the Bachelor's degree curriculum. The courses in M1 enable students to acquire the knowledge and methodological and linguistic skills necessary for research.
The second year of the Master's program (M2) allows students to deepen their research training and culminates in the writing of a thesis. Students will write a thesis of approximately sixty pages, which will be defended orally. This thesis can serve as a preparatory step towards a doctoral thesis.

General requirements

The candidate for the master's program must hold a Bachelor's degree in English (LMD system), specializing in language sciences and didactics, i.e., 180 credits.
He must have strong oral and written English language and communication skills, necessary to initiate and conduct research in the field of applied linguistics and didactics.
He must have received introductory methodological training, developed through a bachelor's thesis directed by a supervisor and defended in S6.
