Overview

The Master of Science program in Geology at American University of Beirut provides graduate students with many skills in research methods, advanced knowledge, communication skills, proficiency, and ethical research conduct. In our Department, we aim to promote personal growth and development in addition to educational significance. Our graduates get extensive experience through field studies and sampling methods, instrumentation, and training in the laboratory and related organizations. Our Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) are consistent with similar graduate programs in many accredited US institutions and universities. 

Learning Outcomes for the Master of Science in Geology Program:

• Analyze qualitative and quantitative information while conducting research in Geology. 
• Recognize core concepts, research methods, and theories related to the Earth and its resources. 
• Conduct independent research for a specific area in terms of its geological history, present geotectonic setting, and its resources.
• Facilitate community engagement in Earth and environmental issues.
• Demonstrate scholarly communication skills in a well-structured scientific format that complies with high standards to serve their discipline.
