Overview

The Department from American University of Beirut has an ambitious graduate program and conducts research in all the above-mentioned areas. It used to have a Ph.D. program, which has been temporarily suspended (since 1978, when the last (11th) Ph.D. degree was granted). The Department has just completed a proposal for reinstating the Ph.D. Program.

Key facts

After graduation, a degree in Chemistry offers cross linking with other fields of science, engineering, medicine, and policy making. There are many options and industries that would appeal to Chemistry professionals. Some of our graduates, for example, work with geologists in the prediction of the location of oil basins. Others, on the other hand, are hired by energy companies to help develop solar prototypes, and energy efficient panels. Graduates with a Chemistry degree from AUB can also enter Engineering fields or work in environmental organizations and biomedical industries with pharmaceutical development.
