Overview

‍The Joint Master in Sustainable and Resilient Pavement Engineering (SURPAVE) has been developed by POWERCN2050 a consortium of four top universities from Belgium, Portugal, Italy and India, all with large experience in sustainable and resilient pavement engineering, to make the difference in future pavement engineering. 

‍The programme is submitted for the call Erasmus Mundus Joint Master 2025 and, on approval, will start in September 2026.

In two years you can become...

The Joint Master in Sustainable and Resilient Pavement Engineering (SURPAVE) is a 2-years master of 120 ECTS credits.

The programme aims to cultivate a generation of professionals capable of integrating sustainability and resilience principles into the design, construction, use and management of pavements. The primary objective of this new Joint Master is to contribute to a climate resilient and sustainable pavement infrastructure and recognising the pivotal role of road infrastructure in the development of countries. 

The innovative curriculum emphasises a multidisciplinary approach, encouraging engineers to adopt a broad vision that encompasses sustainable technologies, people, and processes, to meet the requirements of the future labour market. With this program the participants contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Degree awarding:

Each Partner Institution formally recognizes the modules offered within the programme and the credits awarded. There is mutual recognition of all credits obtained at a partner university.The completion of the curriculum leads to:

• a Joint Master’s Degree signed by the University of Antwerp (BE), the University of Minho (PT) and the University of Palermo (IT)
• a Joint Diploma Supplement describing personal curriculum contents
• students who studied at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (IND) in the 2nd semester or were supervised by MAHE for Industrial Training Project and/or Dissertation will also receive a Certificate issued by Manipal Academy of Higher Education

The partner universities collaborate in this programme closely with the Industrial and Academic Associated Partners. The Associated Partners contribute to SURPAVE by:

• Delivering guest lectures both online and on campus
• Hosting students for Industrial Training Project and/or Dissertation
• Being member of the 4 National Resonance Groups
• Being member of the Quality Team
