Overview

Travel, live and work almost anywhere in the world with a qualification in international education. In this major, you’ll learn the history and development of International Education as a field of study, including a range of international curriculum models and practices.

During this International Education progrmme from Murdoch University you’ll be introduced to the essential elements of the International Baccalaureate suite of programmes, including primary years, middle years and diploma programmes.

What you’ll learn

• The theory, practice and history of international education.

• How to reflect and critique understandings, knowledge and interpretations of key issues and concepts underpinning international education.

• Identify IB philosophy, key elements of PYP, MYP and DP curricula, approaches to teaching, learning and assessing in IB schools.

• Analyse different components of IB programmes and international competencies/mindedness, examine their characteristics and determine how they work together to create a holistic approach to education

• Plan for own professional growth in international education.

Your future career

Upon completing this major you could work in a range of settings including international schools throughout the world such as International Baccalaureate schools and those schools internationalising the curriculum.

Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate may apply for admission to the Master of Education (Coursework) and on completion may receive the IB Advanced Certificate in Teaching and Learning Research.
