Overview
Course Overview
The Textiles program at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design aims to strengthen you as a professional practitioner while promoting the development of critical textile knowledge in order to actively participate in a critical discourse in your own field, related practices and other parts of society.
The programme CRAFT! specialising in textiles is aimed at those who want to problematise and develop their own artistic project. This takes place in dialogue with teachers and other students in a creative environment with large and well-equipped workshops. The two-year programme is conducted through studio and workshop practice, seminars, exhibition situations, study groups, individual and group supervision, fieldwork, theory and practice laboratories, and other activities relevant to the programme. By using arts and crafts as a basis, in method and theoretical starting point, you deepen your master's project with great independence.
Textiles are ever-present as part of human history, experience and contemporary life. In many ways, it is both the basis for, and evidence of, the human ability to create complex systems. The important role of textiles during industrialisation; the development of textile tools and techniques; the role of textiles in relation to culture, belonging and identity are some examples. The programme offers students the opportunity to develop and discuss the role of textiles in a contemporary craft context and in relation to society at large.
