Overview
The Mechatronics Engineering course from University of Padua provides an interdisciplinary preparation, enabling mechatronic engineers to integrate cutting-edge technologies – such as modern sensor, electronic actuators, and electric drives – into an electromechanical project, that is controlled in real-time by embedded computers. These systems address the increasing needs of industry sectors including automation, manufacturing, energy, robotics and automotive.
Career opportunities
Key career opportunities are in the electromechanical, mechanical, and electronics industries with advanced automation departments focused on designing and manufacturing machines for automation, robotic systems or solutions for electric mobility. Graduates can be employed in industries specializing in complex and highly automated equipment, such as automated warehouses, sheet metal processing, automatic food packaging, textile machines, energy conversion systems, and rehabilitation devices like exoskeletons. Additionally, graduates can be involved in research activities linked to mechatronics or related fields, by pursuing PhD studies or contributing to high-level industrial research centers.
Programme Structure
Focuses on key areas essential for modern mechatronics engineering, including:
- embedded systems programming;
- industrial plants;
- control systems theory;
- advanced electric drives;
- power electronics;
- robotics;
- control of mechanical systems;
- dynamics and vibrations in mechanical systems.
