Overview

The Translation programme from University of Limerick  students will gain hands-on experience and develop the professional skills required for successful careers in diverse translation fields. 

Languages being offered as part of this MA programme are French, German, Spanish and Irish. Students can choose to focus on one or two languages in combination with English.  

This programme is suitable for language graduates looking for a career in the translation or localisation industry, international and multilingual companies and those interested in freelance translation work.  

During this programme, you will:  

•  Increase your knowledge of translation techniques and strategies across a variety of genres and subject areas.  
• Gain insight into the complexities of translation, including linguistic nuances, cultural subtleties, and ethical considerations. 

• Form a deep understanding of the technical and technological aspects of the translation profession, including the impact of machine translation and AI. 

• Develop a working knowledge of some of the latest translation technologies, including Audio-Visual Translation (AVT) software and Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools. 

• Enhance project management skills and apply your knowledge to a simulated translation bureau and internship opportunities.
