Overview
At the Genetics and Molecular Cytology programme offered at Pavol Jozef Safárik University in Kosice the student is guided to independent creative work and synthetic thinking, which help him/her to solve the biological problems creatively and independently, as well as the practical tasks of applied biology. Graduates have knowledge of biological and interdisciplinary biosciences (genetics, molecular biology, functional genomics, bioinformatics, plant and animal physiology, cytology, immunology, microbiology, virology, biotechnology, botany, zoology, evolutionary biology, human biology, ecology, etc.), and knowledge from several chemical disciplines and other edging disciplines.
The graduate is competent to solve the problem as a member of the team that masters the basics of scientific methodology and can apply them creatively in solving specific problems. He/she is able to design solutions and evaluate the results of scientific and practical problems. The graduate can formulate recommendations for development of a particular field of science. With the innovative thinking and approach, the graduate is able to present the results obtained from the field of study to a wide professional as well as lay public.

- The basic condition for admission to master's studies is successful completion of the study programme in the bachelor study in the field of Biology or related field of a study. The necessary skills and prerequisites of the applicant for master study are verified on the basis of the results of the previous university study, on the basis of the results of the entrance examination, and also on the basis of an assessment of other activities beyond the previous higher education study.
- Those interested in studying in the Master's study programme Genetics and Molecular Cytology must have knowledge of Biology and Chemistry at the level of bachelor's degree of higher education studies and from the profile subjects Genetics and Molecular Biology must achieve an A-D rating.
