The Public and Global Health programme at Tampere University is part of the teaching offered at the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Health Sciences Unit. Hence, our interdisciplinary programme in public and global health integrates studies in both health sciences and social sciences.

You will acquire a thorough grounding in the core disciplines of public health - epidemiology, health promotion, health policy, health protection and security, health systems, and health economics. In addition, you will grow your knowledge and expertise in global health policy and in understanding the dynamics between multilevel and intersectoral governance and health.

The wide range of courses enable you to gain expertise in your areas of interest, including topics such as social determinants of health, Health in All Policies (HiAP), aging, social protection, health and environment, work and health, sustainable food systems and global health policy and governance.

Global phenomena and global policy decisions affect wellbeing and health across the world, transforming the way we work for health both at national and international levels. This programme offers a unique opportunity to study both global and public health in an interdisciplinary setting.

Bachelor’s degree - nationally recognized first cycle degree

an applicable bachelor’s degree at a university or a university of applied sciences in Finland

a bachelor's degree completed in a university outside Finland which provides eligibility to pursue an academic master’s degree in the country where the awarding institution is located

with a minimum scope of 180 ECTS credits, three to four years of full-time study

from a relevant field for the master’s degree programme that you are applying to

from a recognised institution of higher education

A good command of the English language for academic purposes.
