Overview
The Institute of Mathematics and its Applications admits those with a First Class or Second Class Grade 1 Higher Diploma to Graduate Membership. Others who have passed the Higher Diploma are admitted to Associate Membership.
Students who attain First Class Honours or Second Class Grade 1 in the Diploma are eligible to apply to higher postgraduate programmes in mathematics or related fields.

General requirements
- The minimum requirement for entry to the Higher Diploma in Mathematics is a primary degree (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent honours degree) in which Mathematics formed a substantial component. This includes degrees such as Mathematical Studies, Computer Science, or Education (with three years of Mathematics).
- Applicants must have a recognised primary degree which is considered equivalent to Irish university primary degree level (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent honours degree).
- Applicants for whom English is not their first language are required to demonstrate their proficiency in English in order to benefit fully from their course of study.
