Overview
The Sports Injuries and Return to Performance Management program offered at Setanta College is delivered part-time via distance learning to allow active professionals to study while maintaining their current commitments. Given that this programme is designed to advance the knowledge of active practitioners, it will flexibly fit into your life.
While providing a critical understanding of the early phases of sports injury and the journey towards the end-stage return to performance, the programme aims to equip students with the knowledge and, importantly, the applied skills to guide and deliver individualised care within best evidenced-based practice guidelines along the rehabilitation continuum. The programme is designed and delivered to enable practitioners to progress within sports injury and performance contexts. The academic rigour will also allow students to progress to further academic study and academic careers in sports and exercise science, Physiotherapy/Physical Therapy, etc.
Career Paths
Graduates of this Master of Science in Applied Sport & Exercise Psychology are uniquely positioned for successful careers in a variety of different areas. Graduates will typically pursue employment as psychologists in sport, exercise, performance, or health at professional sporting organisations, NGBs, government-led councils, or in consultancy practices. There is also the doctoral progression options that lead into academia and lecturing/research opportunities. Many other students will operate as mental skills coaches and performance coaches in sport, exercise, and even business settings. Having a knowledge of psychology and how to enhance human performance is an indispensable understanding and can lead graduates to success in many job areas outside of psychology driven career paths.
