Overview
English and Education from Malmö University immerses you in developing practical techniques, methods, and materials for teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), such as virtual exchange, storytelling and creative writing. You also will study English grammar in the context of TESOL, investigate adolescent language development and explore bilingual and multicultural education.
Quick Facts:
- Areas of special expertise exist in the fields of second language learning, creative writing, children’s literature, sociolinguistics, educational linguistics, and psycholinguistics.
- The program allows you to build on the solid foundation of your bachelor’s degree in language(s), linguistics, literature, anthropology or sociology, education, or a related area.
- Applicants should be aware that this programme provides students with a Master’s in English and Education, not a Swedish teaching certificate. Certification is handled through a different process in Sweden and is subject to country-specific requirements that are not met by this program. However, many of the courses in the English and Education Master's Programme are comparable to courses in the secondary and upper-secondary English teaching certification programmes at Malmö University, and one could apply for transfer credits if such a path was chosen for future studies.
