Overview
The master's degree in Education and Community Development aims to contribute to improving the population's quality of life, based on processes of change, transformation and social innovation. Its general objective is to create a network of certified specialists for tasks in the field of training and education, as agents promoting integrated development, based on active citizenship, in partnership with institutions with a strong presence in the community, namely, various regional public services (health, economy, environment, etc.), local authorities, church, in the coordination of action strategies, from a multidisciplinary perspective.
Overview
In addition, in the 1st semester of the 1st year, students at University of Madeira will have one optional subject, out of two, focused on Citizenship and Autonomy issues. The 1st semester will also include a subject that opens up the philosophy of this cycle of studies, called Education and Regional Development.
In addition, the 1st semester curricular design will also include a subject on Research Methodologies in Social Sciences, which will prepare the student for the design, in the 2nd semester, of their Research or Community Intervention Project. Depending on whether the Project is in one direction or another, the 2nd year will be dedicated to either preparing the Dissertation or carrying out the Internship, with moments of shared reflection in a Seminar.
