Overview
The European Union is at the forefront of this development. First, this programme explores the multilevel interaction between public, but also private, actors in Europe. Thus, it allows students to acquire a thorough understanding of the opportunities and constraints related to multilevel governance in policy-making. This Multilevel Governance in Europe interdisciplinary master’s programme from European School of Political and Social Sciences (ESPOL) is intended for future professionals in European and global politics
Key facts
Why study the Multilevel Governance in Europe programme ? It will, for example, allow you to deepen your knowledge of how multilevel governance is shaped. Multilevel governance involves a tension between solving supranational problems and maintaining broad levels of support among diverse national populations. Supranational and national institutions, together with private actors such as businesses, networks and NGOs, actively shape multilevel governance in Europe through recurring interactions at multiple levels. These interactions constantly redefine the rules of the game in European and global politics.
Career
The Multilevel Governance in Europe master’s degree allows you to target numerous opportunities:
- The European institutions : the European Parliament, the European Council, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, are natural outlets for this training.
- National public authorities : ministries, large cities, regions, but also state bodies (Centre for Strategic Analysis, Caisse des Dépôts, etc.), recruit public policy experts, who, what is more, have sectoral knowledge and European skills.
- NGOs, think tanks, foundations and lobbies : They are looking for specialists at the intersection between expert knowledge and practical know-how capable of influencing public decision-makers.
- Businesses : They are increasingly hiring people qualified in European affairs to analyse and influence policies.
