Overview
The Applied Management MA programme from the Eastern Institute of Technology is tailored to meet both students’ and their organisation’s development requirements.
This programme allows students to undertake a significant applied research project to further develop research skills and applied knowledge.
The three pathways emphasise the application of knowledge to provide you with the opportunity to apply knowledge in the workplace and to focus on an aspect of management through completion of a range of applied research projects.

General requirements
- A personal interview may be part of the application process.
- An NZQF-listed undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in the Business or Management field with a minimum of the equivalent to a B average (as per the EIT | Te Pūkenga 11 point grading system specified in the ARF); or
- A Bachelor Honours or Postgraduate degree in the Business or Management field with 120 credits at Level 8; or
- A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a related field with a minimum of the equivalent to a B average (as per the EIT | Te Pūkenga 11 point grading system specified in the ARF) and evidence of management experience at degree level, subject to assessment by the Programme Coordinator; or
At the Dean’s discretion, where an applicant’s situation is compelling but not covered by the requirements listed above.
International Entry Requirements:
An undergraduate business degree with a B pass or better, plus previous relevant work experience.
Where the candidate’s undergraduate degree does not provide the basis of study at the level required for more advanced study, students will be required to enrol in the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Management in the first instance. Upon successful completion, they can choose to continue their studies to Masters degree level, either through classroom based study or research.
