Overview
- The Clinical Exercise Physiology course is offered The University of East London.
- Clinical Exercise Physiologists specialise in health and fitness screening and assessment, exercise prescription and delivery, and the implementation of behaviour change strategies for the prevention, treatment and management of health conditions.
- Instead of a traditional research project, you will gain real-world experience of clinical exercise physiology. Throughout the 140-hour clinical placement you’ll have an unparalleled opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge across NHS, exercise referral and private healthcare settings across London. This experience will not only boost your confidence as a practitioner, but also vastly enhance your employability once you've graduated.
What you’ll learn
You will learn how to screen and assess individuals across a spectrum of health and disease, and how to use clinical and scientific reasoning to optimise the delivery of safe and effective exercise-based interventions.
Gaining extensive practical experience in key physiological laboratory tests such as ECG, cardiopulmonary testing, spirometry and postural balance evaluation, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge required to enable you to test and assess individuals with chronic and complex conditions including:
- Cancer
- Cardiovascular
- Frailty
- Renal
- Mental health
- Metabolic
- Musculoskeletal
- Neurological
- Respiratory
You will learn how to design and deliver interventions that are exercise or physical activity-based and also include health and physical activity education, advice and support for lifestyle modification and behaviour change.
