Overview

The Mathematics Education degree offered at MARA Technological University is a program that provides an opportunity for candidates to advance their professional development by deepening and broadening their understanding of mathematics and of mathematics education; developing their understanding of mathematics education research and its relationship to practice; and developing their skills as leaders in mathematics education.

Objectives

To produce educators who are knowledgeable, competent in their respective areas of specialisation and able to manage and develop students in line with the National Education Philosophy

To produce educators who are competitive in a globalised era, pious, innovative and holistic.

To offer innovative programmes which cater to various educational fields of specialisation.

To offer programmes of various educational level to provide a wider opportunity for life-long learning.

To offer level programmes in various modes, fulltime and part-time (out of campus, franchises, distance learning and flexible learning).

To ensure that programmes offered are of international standard and accredited by local and international institutions.

General requirements

The Master of Science in Mathematics Education is open to candidates who fulfill the following requirements:

A recognized degree in Mathematics/ Mathematics Education or other related disciplines with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or equivalent; OR

A recognized degree in Mathematics/ Mathematics Education or other related disciplines with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent with at least 1 year teaching experience in public or private educational institution; OR

A recognized degree in Mathematics/ Mathematics Education or other related disciplines with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent with at least 3 years teaching experience in public or private educational institution.

AND

Malaysian University English Test (MUET) with a minimum of Band 3.5

AND

An interview session carried out by the Faculty of Education to determine candidates’ suitability.
