Overview

You’ll explore the concept of ‘global media’ and whether mass media inspire or simply report events. You’ll look at the role of social media in communication and how global audiences understand and consume media products.

Core modules will give you the context and theoretical knowledge to consider these questions, and you’ll choose from optional modules to focus on the areas that suit your interests or career aspirations. The content of the course modules is informed by the research interests and practice of academic staff who teach them.

A bachelor degree with a 2:1 (Hons) in one of the following (theory focused) subjects: sociology; language and literature, international relations, politics, communications, media studies.
Applicants with theory-based degrees in other subjects may be considered on an individual basis. Relevant professional experience may also be considered from those with an undergraduate degree in a preferred subject. We may request additional documentation to help inform our decision. Please note that meeting the entry requirements of this course doesn't guarantee an offer of a place.
