Overview
The University of Kassel's master's course in International Food Business and Consumer Studies covers the complex and continually evolving politics of food in society, involving manufacturers, retailers, consumers and health professionals.
Careers
This programme prepares graduates to take on responsible tasks in national and international food business companies, as well as in food certification organisations.
In particular, they are qualified to manage complex processes in food industry, trade and in the agricultural sector. They are able to develop and market food products and related services according to the needs of different consumer groups, taking into account the principles of sustainability.
Employment opportunities include responsible and leading positions in national and multinational companies and institutions of the food industry and consumer protection, especially at the interfaces of different cultures.
Main areas of work of our current graduates are product development, quality management, stakeholder management, certification, marketing, sales, research and education. Graduates can also pursue to further postgraduate studies (PhD).

General requirements
- BSc Degree with a minimum duration of six semesters (180 ECTS credits or equivalent), Grade B (2.5 according to the German grading system) or better in Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional or Food Science or related fields, i.e. Food Technology,
- Non-native speaker must certify sufficient proficieny in English language by previous studies conducted entirely in English or international language certificate of level C1 according to the Common Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF) or International language certificate of level B2 according to the Common Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF) only if applicant worked minimum one year in an organisation where the communication is English within the last two years prior to the application.
