Combining an accredited honours degree with our MSc in Engineering will fulfil the educational requirements for Chartered Engineer status. We have accreditations with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) have been recently extended.  We are waiting for confirmation of extension to accreditations from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

General Requirements

  • For Stage 1, you should normally hold a UK honours degree (or equivalent) in a subject with a high mathematics content. If you don’t have an honours degree, you may still be able to study this qualification by demonstrating your ability to study at postgraduate level.
  • Your spoken and written English must be of an adequate standard for postgraduate study. If English is not your first language, we recommend that you will need a minimum overall score of 6 and minimum score of 5.5 in each of the four components: reading, writing, speaking and listening under the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
