Overview
Would you like to contribute to a sustainable supply of healthy seafood and answer the challenges of global food demand and overfishing? This calls for innovative solutions to be developed and implemented by appropriately trained experts. To respond to the need for expert training in aquaculture health management, the AquaH consortium combines the expertise of the 4 European excellency centres in the field:
- Ghent University (UGent – coordinator), Belgium
- The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway
- Wageningen University and Research (WUR), Netherlands
- Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB) and Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Spain
Learning outcomes
- Participants that successfully terminate the Health Management in Aquaculture (double degree) programme will be able to understand and control the interaction between aquaculture species and their environment, to produce robust and healthy animals with attention for epidemiologic, environmental and welfare regulations.

General requirements
Candidates must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree of min 180ECTS (equivalent to 3 years) from a university or recognised equivalent institute.
- A Grade Point Average (GPA) for this BSc of at least 70% of the maximum grade
- Demonstrate through their transcripts of records to have successfully acquired basic science training in at least 5 out of 7 of the following fields:
- (i) Mathematics
- (ii) Physics
- (iii) Chemistry
- (iv) Biochemistry
- (v) Biology
- (vi) Microbiology
- (vii) Engineering
- Statistics qualifications at level 1 and 2*
- Some academic or professional background in aquaculture is recommended
