Overview
The programme is geared towards specialization in one of the following three topics, one of which is offered every two-year cycle: "The Greek Element in Anglophone Literature and Culture," "Anglophone Theatre from the Renaissance to the Present," and "Nineteenth- and Twentieth- Century Anglophone Literature and Culture".
Aims and Objectives
English Studies - Literature And Culture programme at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) is geared towards students who have a background in the study of Anglophone Literature and Culture and are familiar with twentieth-century theories of literary and cultural criticism. Intended to educate a broad range of humanities graduates the programme trains participants to:
- think critically about a literary work in relation to 20th c. literary theories
- investigate literary representations of cultural categories such as gender,, race, or class, and approach literature as a cultural practice, affected by history and society
- employ criticism and explore texts, critical theory and cultural conditions that are relevant to their lives and prospects.

- Certified Copies of any other degrees earned in relevant subjects
- Official transcript of undergraduate courses passed and grades obtained
- Official recognition from the Hellenic NARIC of any foreign degrees held
- Two academic reference letters in separate sealed and stamped envelopes on the special form provided
- Certification of English language proficiency (at level C2 “excellent knowledge”) for candidates who are not graduates of English language and literature departments
- Certification of Greek language proficiency (at level Β1/Β2 “good knowledge”) for non-Greek candidates (desirable but not essential)
- Two research papers submitted and graded in the context of a related undergraduate or postgraduate programme of studies
