Overview
Students in the Economics program from University Putra Malaysia will acquire relevant skills in conducting economic research by taking courses in research methodology econometrics, statistical techniques and a master dissertation. They will also be exposed to current global economic issue and recent economic research tools and studies.
Curriculum structure
Candidates are required to complete a total of 40 credit hours of coursework. The total credit hours include program core courses and master dissertation (25 credit hours) and elective courses (15 credit hours).

General requirements
- Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 3.000; or
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification with a CGPA between 2.750 – 2.999 and have a minimum of 1 year of work experience in a related field; or
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification with a CGPA between 2.500 – 2.749 and have a minimum of 2 years work experience in a related field; or
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification with a CGPA below 2.500 and have at least 5 years of work experience in a related field.
- For international candidates only:
- Band 6.0 for IELTS (Academic Version); or
- Score 79-80 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
- Band 4 for MUET; or
- Score 50 for PTE Academic; or
- Score 109 for CIEP at ELS Language Centre, UPM
