Overview
Methodologically, the International Master of Advanced Methods in Particle Physics is based on three pillars, each of which is associated with one of the three universities. These are statistics and machine learning (University of Clermont Auvergne), instrumentation and detector physics (TU Dortmund University) and scientific computing (University of Bologna). Training in these methodological aspects is the second focus of the program.
Careers
Even though the program provides for a specialization in a subfield of physics and is thus less aimed at the generalist typical in physics, the degree offers significant advantages over classical physics programs.
On the one hand, it allows for increased mobility and a great potential for international experience. On the other hand, the three pillars of methodological education are associated with skills that are in demand on the job market. In addition, the program is a ticket to a promising academic career, e.g. through a subsequent doctorate.
